Kent Williams is an American painter, illustrator and graphic novel artist. From 1980 he studied in New York City at the Pratt Institute. Kent Williams' work has been the subject of a number of solo exhibitions over the past ten years, including shows in New York City, San Francisco, CA, Sundance, UT, The Duke Museum of Art, Durham, NC, and in Los Angeles, CA, where he is represented by Merry Karnowsky Gallery. Williams is the recipient of a number of awards for his work, both in comics and illustration, including the Italian Yellow Kid Award, four medals from the Society of Illustrators, and the Joseph Henniger Award for Best of Show. Williams recently completed the graphic novel based upon the original script for the Darren Aronofsky film, The Fountain, starring Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman. The graphic novel took approximately two years to complete. He currently teaches contemporary figurative painting at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
